Verify where someone lives — with their consent, start to finish.
ResidenceProof confirms a person's current residential address and who lives with them, for businesses that have a legitimate reason to know. Here is exactly what happens from sign-up to result.
CREATE A BUSINESS ACCOUNTFrom order to result in seven steps
- 1
Create your business account
Sign up with your company details and the purposes you need verifications for. Our team reviews every business by hand before it can order checks, and emails you once you're approved.
- 2
Add verification credits
Buy a credit pack on the Pricing page. Each verification uses one credit. If the person declines, the request expires or you cancel before work starts, the credit goes back to your balance.
- 3
Order a verification
Enter the person's name, date of birth, contact details and the address to verify, choose a permitted purpose, and pick a records check or a records check with a field visit.
- 4
Consent is collected
We send the person a secure consent link by email or text, or — if your account is approved for it — you upload the signed authorization you collected yourself. Nothing is checked before consent is in place.
- 5
We gather and weigh the evidence
Our analysts compare public and commercial records with any documents the person uploads and, where ordered, the field agent's visit report.
- 6
A second reviewer checks the result
Every verdict is reviewed by a different person on our quality team before it is released to you.
- 7
You get the result
The case shows one of three outcomes — verified, discrepancy found, or could not verify — with a written summary. Track every case, its timeline and your team's activity in the console, and export reports from Analytics.
What we check, and how consent works
Every case starts with consent. We only look at what is needed to confirm the address and household you asked about.
Public and commercial records
Address and household signals from record sources, compared against the address and household details you submitted.
Documents from the person
With a free account, the person can upload photos or PDFs — for example a utility bill or lease — to support their address.
Consent we collect for you
The person opens a secure link, confirms their identity and signs electronically. The link is valid for 14 days and can be re-sent if needed.
Consent you collect yourself
Approved businesses can upload a signed authorization and attest to it. You remain responsible for that consent being valid.
When records aren't enough, we knock on the door
Where we visit
Field visits are currently available in Los Angeles, New York, Austin and Chicago. The order form tells you straight away whether a ZIP code is covered.
Who visits
An identified independent field agent, assigned by our team. The person must authorize the visit as part of their consent.
What gets recorded
Each attempt is logged with its outcome, notes, location and photos, and goes into the case evidence for review.
If nobody is home
The agent records the attempt. Our analysts then decide the outcome from all the evidence on the case.
The person always keeps their rights
People can see what was found about them, dispute anything they believe is wrong and make privacy requests at any time. If a dispute changes a result, you are told. Build these rights into your own decisions — for example, tell the person when a report played a part in an adverse decision.
